Jeffrey Cheung’s drawings and paintings are a vibrant celebration of queer identities, featuring richly colored nude figures that playfully twist and embrace one another. His artistic expression extends beyond traditional mediums; Cheung creates prints and zines, and his illustrations also adorn outdoor murals and skateboards. Deeply rooted in the Bay Area’s queer community, Cheung’s work often depicts joyous, androgynous characters on skateboard decks that he generously gives away to young skaters at community meetups. Since 2017, he has hand-painted over a thousand custom boards, coinciding with the founding of Unity—a brand that encompasses an independent press, skateboard company, and art studio. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, Cheung embraced printmaking as a means to explore his sexuality. His practice reflects a steadfast commitment to fostering inclusive spaces for individuals of all identities.
