The late Dan Hillier was a British artist celebrated for his thought-provoking and evocative artworks. Drawing inspiration from dream imagery, religious iconography, and anatomical illustrations, his work reflects a deep connection to both the natural world and spiritual dimensions. Hillier’s distinctive aesthetic merges Surrealism with Neo-Victoriana. By fusing his intricate ink drawings with found imagery sourced from antique books and illustrations, he crafted eccentric wonderlands that exist on the fringes of reality and reverie, each imbued with an uncanny vitality. Throughout his prolific yet tragically brief career, Hillier collaborated with notable entities such as the Globe Theatre, Marc Jacobs, and Louis Vuitton. He also designed the album cover for Royal Blood’s self-titled number one album and created the opening credits for the 2018 BBC drama Requiem.
