Christian Guémy, known as C215, is a French urban stencil artist born in 1973. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages (English and German) from Sorbonne University and multiple Master’s degrees in History, Art History, and Architecture History. He began his artistic journey by publishing poetry under the pseudonym C215. Since the early 2000s, Guémy has brought his distinctive art to the streets around the world. His work, whether painted on urban objects or displayed on canvas, has been featured in numerous galleries both in France and internationally. He has showcased his art in various national museums and frequently collaborates with public, cultural, and social institutions. This year, he prominently presented the exhibition “Shadow and Light” at the Musée de l’Ordre de la Libération in Paris, as well as at the Maison Aragon-Triolet (“Autographs”) and the Musée Champollion (“Egyptomania”). Today, Christian Guémy is recognized as one of the leading stencil artists on the global street art scene. His work often reflects his commitment to French republican values, questioning collective memory while honoring exemplary and heroic achievements. In recognition of his contributions to the arts, he was awarded the title of “Knight of the French Order of Arts and Letters” by the French Minister of Culture on September 16, 2019.
